Serbia and Montenegro - Fudbalski Savez Srbije i Crne Gore

The Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro (FSSCG) (Serbian: Фудбалски савез Србије и Црне Горе) is the governing body of football in Serbia and Montenegro, based in Belgrade.

It organizes the football league, the First League of Serbia and Montenegro, the Serbia and Montenegro national football team, as well as the Second Leagues of both republics.

FSSCG replaced the Football Association of Yugoslavia, which was founded in 1919.

The Serbia and Montenegro national football team is the national team of Serbia and Montenegro and is controlled by the Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro. It was previously known as the Yugoslavia national football team when the country was called the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, until February 2003 when the name of the country was changed to Serbia and Montenegro. This article refers to the team after the split of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as the national team of first Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and then Serbia and Montenegro.

Although the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was formed on April 28, 1992, because of the international sanctions due to the Yugoslav wars banning the country from international sporting events, the football team didn't play its first match until 23 December 1994, when they lost to Brazil. Since the split, the team has qualified for the World Cup twice, in 1998 and 2006, and for the European Championship once, in 2000. In 2003, with the renaming of the country, the team assumed its current name.

FIFA considers the Serbia and Montenegro team the direct descendent of the SFRY national team; however, since that one represented a much larger group of people, the information on this page and elsewhere on this site is split, with the Yugoslavia national football team article covering the pre-1992 Yugoslavia.
